      The guilt around presents

      in Thoughts in my 20s

What to give someone that deserves the world when your budget is small? I think everyone in their 20s has struggled with this. It is natural that you want to give someone the best gift possible the new PS5 or the paint set that they want. But many of us are making less than £25,000 and most of that goes to living expenses. Christmas time always makes me feel a bit guilty about my lack of resources. I don’t want to give my family a shower gel set that I know they won’t use just for the sake of a gift. I want to give them something meaningful. Can anyone relate???

I tend to think that other people want expensive gifts but then I appreciate the small things too. My friend got me a replacement for my favourite necklace I got and my other friend got me some herbal tea and candles to relax because I kept having really bad cramps. It doesn’t have to be a big thing! And if you find something you really want to give someone that’s out of budget you could pair up with someone else and get it together?
