Here is a list of 8 things I miss about living on my own. These things are very small and silly. I am very privileged to have the ability to live with my parents. But it can be a hard adjustment when you had this freedom for a few years and then it was gone. Hopefully, someone can relate, and I don’t sound ungrateful. 😅
1. Having the ability to walk downstairs after 10 pm to get something. In my house, the alarm is turned on at 10 pm and I don't know how to turn it off and on. Not ideal when I want a snack
2. Being able to order Dominos whenever I was studying late. Pizza at 3 am after a long night of studying hits different
3. Sleeping in. In my house, everyone is up either at 7 am or earlier
4. Not having to report where I am going when leaving the house
5. Being able to study in peace and quiet. My room is next to my 15 years old brother who plays video games. I don’t think I need to say more
6. Having a messy room. For the majority of the time, my room is clean. But sometimes I am too busy or stressed to clean my room and it can get messy. But now I have to keep it clean all the time
7. Meeting my friends whenever I want because we lived 15 minutes away from each other. Now the distance is nearly 2 hours each way
8. Having people over whenever I want e.g., men
Lmao I cried at “e.g. men”. Literally on a flight back home right now and don’t know what to expect nor know how to feel. It’s been two years since I’ve gotten to go home because of COVID and it almost feels foreign at this point. Having to ask for permission to leave the house, even just to go to get a snack, is deffoooooo the most annoying thing to me and something I thought only I had to do because of my Asian parents 😂
